This past WednesdayPresident Barack Obama gave his first state of the union adress as president of the United States. I havent watched many of these all the way thru in the past, but I did find this one entertaining. One thing that still bothers me is the split between Democrats and republicans you would see half the room standing and applauding while the other half sits quietly. President Obama did take many sarcastic jabs at republicans and would consatntly look over at their side of the room, which is only making the gap between left and right bigger.
As far as the speech itself I thought it covered all the points that needed to be covered although I did feel that it was abunch of words that don't mean anything unless some actions are put behind them and the only way thats gonna get done is if both parties reach some sort of compromise. President Obama seemed to talk alot about Healthcare and how it is important for this country to move forward with it. He also talked about other topics that are at the top of his agenda like education and imiggration. Another big topic on the night was the econmy and more important jobs and job creation. He know too many people are unemployed, and wants to get a bill passed that would create more jobs.
At my work we did a special on the adress and had both a republican and democrat guest in response to the presidents speech. Perhaps the best part of his speech was towards the ens where both parties grew silent and the president talked about this countrys future with such passion and intensity that is one thing the President is good at is he is a great speech giver.
