Bt 180 state of the union

This past WednesdayPresident Barack Obama gave his first state of the union adress as president of the United States. I havent watched many of these all the way thru in the past, but I did find this one entertaining. One thing that still bothers me is the split between Democrats and republicans you would see half the room standing and applauding while the other half sits quietly. President Obama did take many sarcastic jabs at republicans and would consatntly look over at their side of the room, which is only making the gap between left and right bigger.
As far as the speech itself I thought it covered all the points that needed to be covered although I did feel that it was abunch of words that don't mean anything unless some actions are put behind them and the only way thats gonna get done is if both parties reach some sort of compromise. President Obama seemed to talk alot about Healthcare and how it is important for this country to move forward with it. He also talked about other topics that are at the top of his agenda like education and imiggration. Another big topic on the night was the econmy and more important jobs and job creation. He know too many people are unemployed, and wants to get a bill passed that would create more jobs.
At my work we did a special on the adress and had both a republican and democrat guest in response to the presidents speech. Perhaps the best part of his speech was towards the ens where both parties grew silent and the president talked about this countrys future with such passion and intensity that is one thing the President is good at is he is a great speech giver.

bt 180 weekly tv viewing

As someone whos always considered to watch alot of tv, lately I haven't been able to due to work and school so when an show comes on that I like most often I TIVO it to watch later. Because I work 5-midnight I often miss some of my favorite primetime shows. Here are some of the things I watched this week.
MONDAY: Monday was the day I probably waatched the least amount of T.V. when I got home from school I put on the discovery channel and watched Man. vs. Wild only because I was channel surfing but I do like that show because I feel that its educational and entertaining at the same time, this particular edpisode he was in the jungles of Brazil.

TUESDAY: Tuesday I probably watched the most TV. Most of it was TIVO shows from Monday night. I started with one of my favorite shows chuck which has action and comedy, then I switch it over to Heroes which seems to be more plot driven and compelling. Then I put it on Greek for some more comedy about college which I can relate too, I also watched about an hour of sports center, thats another show I watch alot. I finished the day by watching American Idol, because I'm one of those people who only watch the auditions, followed by The Kusi news.

WEDNESDAY: Wednesday was another day where I get little time to watch TV, when I got home I watched about an hour of Sports Center just to see whats going on in the world of sports. Then later on at work we all watched American Idol in the control room, and since we did a special on the State Of The Union I watched that. I forgot to mention obviosly because of work I watch Kusi evrey night I work but I tend to pay more attention to some areas more than others like sports for instance.

THURSDAY: Thursday when I got home I watched the movie Surrogates, and mitch Hedbers on comedy central presents, but I didn't think he was very funny. At work we watched some of the Winter x-games on ESPN it was the first night so we saw halfpipe qualifying.

FRIDAY: I didn't start watching t.v. until the afternoon and I rented the movie the gamer and watched that which had alot of action and cool cinematogaphy, but after that all I watched was about 3 hours of day 2 of the x- games which included snow mobile freestyle, skier best trick and my favorite mens half pipe.

Leno vs. Obrien 1/19/2010

Another night both the tonight show and the Jay Leno show have stayed on the air for now. I thought on The Jay leno show his monolouge was kinda funny but definetly my favorite part of the whole show was his second segment which was called"dealing with the public" which was all about stupid criminals and 911 phone calls. His on set guest was comedian Chealsea Handler and they were pretty funny together and Jays 10 at 10 was with Micheal Jordan which was pretty intresting itself.
The tonight show with host conan obrien can be wrapping up sometime in the near future, so it seems Conan is trying to have as much fun with it as he can again I found alot of his jokes funny. His first guest on the night was famous and slightly crazy Quetin Taratino which I knew was going to be fun right away, and I was not dissapointed, I liked when he pitched a movie idea for Conans revenge. His second guest im not sure of the British actors name, I know he stars in Leigon and is married to Jennifer Connelly, but I thought he was good at telling stories.

Leno Vs. Obrien 1/18/2010

As the fate of both Tonight Show host Conan Obrien and Jay Lelo Show host Jay Leno future is still up in the air both hosts have handeled this situation very well. Mondays Tonight show could have very well kicked off the last week as the tonight show host. I thought the episde was pretty funny his monoluge was pretty good again mostly making fun of himself and NBC. His first guest on the night was director Martin Scortese whose movies I greatly enjoy, and then he had actor Colin Firth on the episode and they threw some jokes around and then his performence on the night was a cirque something and was kinda cool. He also showed the Conan obrien rally going on outsde the studio.
The Jay leno show was also good his monolouge was much the same alhough he threw a Charger joke in there which hurt (haha). His second segment was very serious and he took a moment to share his thoughts and opinions on the whole NBC situation, and it was a nice change in pace. His first guest on the night was actress Emily Blunt and she had to hug the Burger king guy, which was strange, then he had his musical guest on the night which was Ringo Star. My favorite part of the show was where comedian Mickey Day whent to the Golden Globes and did a story which was very funny. All in all I still like Conan Obrien better as a host and I would back him wherever he goes.

Leno Vs. Obrien 1/15/2010

I think this whole situation eith the tonight show and Jay Leno show has really boosted both shows ratings over the past few weeks, which gives NBC something to be happy about. I heard that next Friday is gonna be Conan Obriens last show as the host of the Tonight Show which makes me kinda sad because I was just getting into it, but Obrien is too good he will get another show, personally I would like to see him do something with Comedy Central. This show was okay nothing more, nothing less. I did like the part with his first guest Jeff Bridges it was pretty entertaining and he even played a song on his guitar. His other guest was Mary Lynn Rajskub and the musical guest on the night was lifehouse.

The Jay Leno was acyually better than the tonight show this night. One thing I noticed that I dont like is the set design and overall style of the show it seems like there trying to be too hip almost like there trying to hard it almost feels like a talkshow like Oprah then a late night show, I think that was one of the contributing factors to the shows failure. This episode was good though, the 10 at 10 guest was Ricky Gervais who was his normal funny self. They had a Psychic/comedian set up in a booth at universal which was kinda funny. and they also had another guest which I think was Julliane Moore who I never really thought of as funny but she seemed to have a good time with the show.

conan vs. leno 1/14/2010

The contervery continued last night, during the Jay Leno Show and the Tonight show as both the writing staff for Leno and Conan seem to be taking advantage of the whole situation for some great punchlines mostly directed toward NBC. Both hosts seem to be taking jabs at each other but the real question is, is it all in good fun or do these two hosts generally dislike each other?
On the Jay leno show I thought his monolouge was a little better this time but the segments were not that funny, espicially the one where the guy went into random buisnesses and wrote jingles for them, although they did not have any musical guest in the show which is okay, when they sometimes have comedians instead, one segment they have which is usually a hit or miss is the 10 ata 1o, I liked this one who they had Jimmy Kimmel on who has been making fun of Leno and they had some fun with that.
On the Tonight show it was okay I still liked it more, not only because im on team Conan, but the monolouge was funny even though a lot of the jokes were similar almost even rewritten. They also had a Classic Memories segment for the second night in a row which can get real old fast, so they have to be careful. I also thought the guests were kinda boring for this show, but the musical guest was a violinist which I thought was kinda diffrent.

Conan vs. Leno 1/13/2010

I just started getting into the tonight show when it was the final months of Leno hosting, I usually only watched the monolouge and headlines or Jay Walking, but then Conan Obrien took over who I never watched before and he seemed a bit more edgy and to me more funny and I like the way he interacts the audience. On wednesday Tonight Show Conan really poked fun at the whole situation, first with his " Conans classic memories" which was ironic considering he has only been the host 7 months now. Perhaps my favorite part was when his first guest Rickey Gervais poked fun at evreything and told obrien he has no talent, and when they threw to commercial he said theres about a 70 percent chance we will be back.

At first when I heard Jay leno was getting a show at 10 pm I was excited because I didnt have to stay up so late to watch the late night comedy shows, unfortunetly after only a few episodes I got bored with it. It wasnt that I did not like Leno because I do but it seemed more dry and diffrent from the old show. In Wednesdays episode of the Jay Leno show i didnt think it was that funny they didnt seem to have as much fun with the situation, I did like the Internet sucess and failure segment which I thought was the funniest part of the show. For some reason I dont really like how during the interview segment both the guest and Leno are sitting on couches, I liked it before when Leno had his desk.
