180 4/23/2010 Favorite Movie
I'm the kind of person who has a lot of favorite movies. I mostly like to watch comidies and action movies but evrey once in a while I will will mix in a little sci-fi or romance. I never really though of having a favorite movie, there are several movie that I will watch whenever it is on. One of those movies being Happy Gillmore because it is a really funny movie that takes a sport many people find boring and makes it fun and comical. I Also really like the movie Armeggedon. This movie has a lot of diffrent elements in it that all come together to make it a sad but some how very entertaining movie. I remember the first time I saw it in theaters I was blown away by some of the special effects in this movie, which were ground breaking for its time. One movie that I really like that also has a lot of special effects is the first Matrix movie. It had a really cool plot and story concept and again to some neat things with their visual effects. It seems now, that movies are not very original and they are all remakes or copies of a diffrent story.

bt radio 4/9/2010
I know that lately radio stations have been struggaling to stay afloat in this economy and for the simple fact that people simple are not listening now because of the invention of the Ipod and many other factors. I'm still one of the few who does listen to the radio, but it's only when I am drivibg around in my car or do not have access to watching the Padre game on TV. The radio stations that I listen to most are 91x rock 105.3, 933,94.1 and 90.3 This is usually to and from work or school though, but in the mourning I like to listen to Aj in the mourning and the 91x mourning show. Shometimes when i get off work on my way home I listen to love line with Dr. drew simply because there is not much music on that time of night. I think a way we can get other to listen to radio stations again is to find alternate ways of advertising because there are way too many commercials on the air right now, but they also need to play more of a variety of songs because sometimes songs get outplayed.

Twitter assignment
I must admit I have never had a twitter account or even had a intrest in one, I realize that it is a way for people to express how they feel and even an outlet to get infronation out to the public. Just this week I signed up for my first Twitter account and I'm still not sure how it really works, but what I did is I chose to follow Larry King and CBS news to see what information they were putting out about the Chealsea King and Amber Dubois case. I was surprised to see how little information they had about it, considering the magnitude and impact it has had on San Diego county. CBS did post something a few days ago with a link for more infornation on the finding of Amber Dubois remains but that was all I really saw. As angry as these two stories made me I also found it frustrating how little information so called news outlets were putting out to the public, as a society we need to be more concerned about predators and if we continue to ignore them or even just worry about them when a tennage girl gets killed and forget a week later then this problem is only going to get worse.

Local News bt180
For our local news assignment we had to watch five local newscasts NBC, FOX, CBS, KUSI, and ABC news. We didn't have to watch the CW news because that station is stuggling and probably soon dying out. For this assignment I decided to record only night newscasts and all on the same night, that way I can see how all diffrent the stations cover the same stories intheir own way.
The news I probably watch most are CBS, FOX and KUSI. I only started to watch KUSI after I started working there because I used to joke that it was only for old people. One thing I noticed about them though is that KUSI does a better job at covering local stories better then the other stations, and I believe that is because they are independently owned and do not have to rely on National stories as much. One thing about KUSI though is they have a lack of reporters to put out in the field for their live shots, and one thing I do not like about them is how there newscast looks like one from the 90's.
I don't know why I don't like NBC and ABC news I think its because they always seem so serious and with NBC I don't really like the set design with the street background. One of the things I have been noticing lately over the past couple of years is how they are trying to bring in more attractive weather and traffic girls, and I think thay's just an attempt to get more guys to try and watch the news.

Bt 180 state of the union
This past WednesdayPresident Barack Obama gave his first state of the union adress as president of the United States. I havent watched many of these all the way thru in the past, but I did find this one entertaining. One thing that still bothers me is the split between Democrats and republicans you would see half the room standing and applauding while the other half sits quietly. President Obama did take many sarcastic jabs at republicans and would consatntly look over at their side of the room, which is only making the gap between left and right bigger.
As far as the speech itself I thought it covered all the points that needed to be covered although I did feel that it was abunch of words that don't mean anything unless some actions are put behind them and the only way thats gonna get done is if both parties reach some sort of compromise. President Obama seemed to talk alot about Healthcare and how it is important for this country to move forward with it. He also talked about other topics that are at the top of his agenda like education and imiggration. Another big topic on the night was the econmy and more important jobs and job creation. He know too many people are unemployed, and wants to get a bill passed that would create more jobs.
At my work we did a special on the adress and had both a republican and democrat guest in response to the presidents speech. Perhaps the best part of his speech was towards the ens where both parties grew silent and the president talked about this countrys future with such passion and intensity that is one thing the President is good at is he is a great speech giver.

bt 180 weekly tv viewing
As someone whos always considered to watch alot of tv, lately I haven't been able to due to work and school so when an show comes on that I like most often I TIVO it to watch later. Because I work 5-midnight I often miss some of my favorite primetime shows. Here are some of the things I watched this week.
MONDAY: Monday was the day I probably waatched the least amount of T.V. when I got home from school I put on the discovery channel and watched Man. vs. Wild only because I was channel surfing but I do like that show because I feel that its educational and entertaining at the same time, this particular edpisode he was in the jungles of Brazil.
TUESDAY: Tuesday I probably watched the most TV. Most of it was TIVO shows from Monday night. I started with one of my favorite shows chuck which has action and comedy, then I switch it over to Heroes which seems to be more plot driven and compelling. Then I put it on Greek for some more comedy about college which I can relate too, I also watched about an hour of sports center, thats another show I watch alot. I finished the day by watching American Idol, because I'm one of those people who only watch the auditions, followed by The Kusi news.
WEDNESDAY: Wednesday was another day where I get little time to watch TV, when I got home I watched about an hour of Sports Center just to see whats going on in the world of sports. Then later on at work we all watched American Idol in the control room, and since we did a special on the State Of The Union I watched that. I forgot to mention obviosly because of work I watch Kusi evrey night I work but I tend to pay more attention to some areas more than others like sports for instance.
THURSDAY: Thursday when I got home I watched the movie Surrogates, and mitch Hedbers on comedy central presents, but I didn't think he was very funny. At work we watched some of the Winter x-games on ESPN it was the first night so we saw halfpipe qualifying.
FRIDAY: I didn't start watching t.v. until the afternoon and I rented the movie the gamer and watched that which had alot of action and cool cinematogaphy, but after that all I watched was about 3 hours of day 2 of the x- games which included snow mobile freestyle, skier best trick and my favorite mens half pipe.

Leno vs. Obrien 1/19/2010
Another night both the tonight show and the Jay Leno show have stayed on the air for now. I thought on The Jay leno show his monolouge was kinda funny but definetly my favorite part of the whole show was his second segment which was called"dealing with the public" which was all about stupid criminals and 911 phone calls. His on set guest was comedian Chealsea Handler and they were pretty funny together and Jays 10 at 10 was with Micheal Jordan which was pretty intresting itself.
The tonight show with host conan obrien can be wrapping up sometime in the near future, so it seems Conan is trying to have as much fun with it as he can again I found alot of his jokes funny. His first guest on the night was famous and slightly crazy Quetin Taratino which I knew was going to be fun right away, and I was not dissapointed, I liked when he pitched a movie idea for Conans revenge. His second guest im not sure of the British actors name, I know he stars in Leigon and is married to Jennifer Connelly, but I thought he was good at telling stories.
